DISCUSSION WITH INDUSTRIAL REPRESENTATIVE FOR CURRICULUM REVIEW OF BACHELOR OF APPLIED SCIENCE (MATERIALS TECHNOLOGY) WITH HONOUR

Curriculum review is a process of improving an academic program which involve certain terms and conditions, and must be systematically carried out.  The purpose of this process practices to ensure the existing curriculum is updated, remain relevant and graduate meet employer demands. The parties involved in this curriculum review are industrial representatives, external examiner, alumni, current students and stakeholder.

Recently, we had a few discussions between lecturers of Bachelor of Applied Sciences (Materials Technology) With Honours and industrial representative from the various expertises in materials technology. The industrial representatives involved are from Silterra Sdn. Bhd, Rohm Wako Electronics (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd., Hicom Teck See Manufacturing (M) Sdn. Bhd., Perbadanan Kemajuan Kraftangan Malaysia cawangan Perak, WHD Global Engineering Sdn. Bhd., dan Malaysia Nuclear. 

However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and 2nd phase of Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) started on 21 November until 6 December 2020, online virtual discussion has been initiated since 25 November 2020, replacing the conventional F2F physical discussion. Outcome of the discussion is to ensure curriculum review fulfil the industrial demands and continuously producing good quality of Materials Technology graduates. Furthermore, the main purpose of this process is to compliance with Malaysia Qualifications Framework (MQF) of academic program in Malaysia.
